Rio Branco Institute
The Rio Branco Institute was created in 1945, in the wake of the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Baron do Rio Branco, patron of Brazilian diplomacy. Initially established with the dual purpose of dealing with the training and improvement of employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and constituting a nucleus of studies on diplomacy and international relations, the Institute has become, throughout its almost 80 years of existence, an international reference as a diplomatic academy.
Itamaraty Palace
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the federal public administration body responsible for Brazil's relations with other countries and for Brazilian participation in international organizations. Executes the foreign policy defined by the Presidency of the Republic in accordance with the principles established in art. 4th of the Federal Constitution. The origins of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs date back to 1821, when there was a separation between the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat of War. After the Proclamation of the Republic, in 1889, the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs was called "Ministry of Foreign Affairs".
